Take a break from scrolling and reconnect with your creativity through film photography. Join professional photographer Jenn Razon at El Jardín Creative Studio in Santa Ana for a workshop that brings together art, mindful attention, and connection—with yourself, with others, and with the world around you.
With just one roll of film, every frame becomes an invitation to slow down, follow your curiosity, and notice something you might otherwise walk past.
Level 1
Session One: Slow Down & Shoot 90 minutes–2 hours
We’ll begin at El Jardín with a brief guided meditation to settle in and bring our attention to the present. Then, choose a camera from our collection of playful, old-school Lomo 35mm cameras. Jenn will introduce you to your camera and share approachable ways to work with light, composition, and storytelling before leading a photo walk through the streets of Santa Ana. Drawing on her photography and travels—including time in the Philippines and Spain—she’ll help you discover your own way of seeing. No photography experience needed. Bring your curiosity.
Your workshop includes:
- Rental of your chosen camera for the photo walk
- One roll of 35mm film
- Photography instruction and a guided walk with Jenn
- Film development after the session
- A follow-up gathering to receive and explore your photographs
(Note: if you would like to use your own film camera, please let the instructor know in advance. )
At the end of the walk, leave your film with us. We’ll take care of the development.
Session Two: Reveal & Reflect
Return to El Jardín to receive your photographs and discover what you captured.
Together, we’ll explore the images, share the stories behind them, and reflect on what we noticed along the way. Jenn will offer supportive feedback on light, framing, and composition to help you grow your confidence for your next roll.
It’s a chance to enjoy the anticipation and surprise of film—and connect with others through the way each of us sees.
